ComAp collaborated with its trusted partner, Watermota SRL, to provide a Power Management System (PMS) for the Mircea cel Bătrân naval academy training laboratory in Constanta, Romania. Watermota SRL has been a partner of ComAp for over a decade and specialises in turnkey power generation solutions for the marine industry.
The Naval Academy was looking to install a system in their laboratory that could provide practical, hands-on experience with marine electro-energy systems. One of the key requirements for this system was its ability to aggregate both engine and generator values via API and transfer the data to a SCADA system for external display. As an additional requirement, the Mircea cel Bătrân requested that the new system be equipped with remote monitoring capabilities.
To enable local engine control and monitoring, Watermota SRL installed two BAUDOUIN diesel gen-sets (80–120 kVA, 3x400 VAC / 50 Hz), fitted with ID-DCU controllers. ComAp’s InteliSys NT Base Box controllers were then integrated with each genset, alongside InteliVision 12” displays mounted on the main switchboard to facilitate full power management of the system. InternetBridge 4G modems were also implemented to the system to provide remote monitoring capabilities.
As a result of the new Power Management System (PMS), the Mircea cel Bătrân Naval Academy’s laboratory system is now fully operational and offers students valuable insights and hands-on experience with modern naval power systems.
