WebSupervisor is a Cloud-based service that enables remote monitoring, management and analysing of a gen-set fleet and 3rd party devices from anywhere. The Comap Cloud API, as part of WebSupervisor, enables custom data integration into 3rd party business management software.

Websupervisor for all devices

ComAp Cloud API

The ComAp Cloud API lets you seamlessly access actual and historical data from ComAp devices and use it in your own applications. Whether you want to build advanced BI dashboards, integrate with your CRM or ERP system, our API gives you the flexibility to create solutions that match your needs. From triggering actions based on device data to enriching your internal systems with live operational insights - the possibilities are endless.

Main Features

Dashboard

Easily view and navigate to common points of interest on WebSupervisor. The Dashboard displays an overview of important information, such as alarms, power output, engine state and lists of controller groups.

Device, Group and User Management

Control your units, groups and account users. With WebSupervisor's management feature, units and groups can be added, removed, disabled, among other actions. Users can be selected to receive reports; roles can be created and assigned; activity is logged and monitored.

Screen Editor

Modify screens of the web application according to your needs. The Screen Editor offers many instruments, such as analogue meters, site diagrams, breaker buttons, and even the ability to display a webcam live-feed.

Branding

Match the appearance of WebSupervisor to that of your own company's corporate identity. Pro users can display a company name or logo at the top of the page and use hexadecimal colour codes to change the website's buttons, menus, links, and text.

Extended Controller Interactions

Interact with units from a distance to perform complex tasks. WSV Pro users can connect to InteliConfig and other PC tools, download controller history, and even change setpoints through the web application.

Webcontrol

A simple tool in functionality but powerful in application, Webcontrol allows users to group certain controllers together, which can then be started and stopped together.

Event Triggers

Create and define custom triggers that will send a notification when the trigger is activated. Receive alerts for events like fuel level warnings, units going into "no communication" mode, or gensets reaching their preset limits of starts.

Notifications

Keep up to date on urgent events related to your devices and your account. The alerts sub menu will notify you of critical alarms on your devices, new comments left by other users, and when reports are ready to download.

Reports

Generate weekly or monthly customised reports of important values. The reports feature makes it easy to invoice your clients according to datapoints like power level and running hours, or to give your own organisation an overview of information regarding fuel consumption or energy production.

Alarm Analyser

Monitor frequent alarms to reduce potential maintenance costs and increase genset uptime. Alarm Analyser evaluates alarms during a selected period and generates a report on which alarms occured, their frequency, and their duration.

Trends

Visualise the historical data of a unit's values. Controller Objects such as voltage, kW generated, and frequency can be displayed on line graphs, bar graphs, heat maps or tables. The tabs function lets you save graphs or tables to be quickly read again at each log in.

ComAp Cloud API

Activate access to the API and gain programmatic access to controller data. Automate the creation of detailed reports, or integrate WebSupervisor into other business management software tools, such as CRM, ERP, and PowerBI. Go to the API portal where you can read the documentation and learn how to implement it into your operations.

Security is our top priority. WebSupervisor runs on Microsoft Azure servers, which is one of the world's most widely used and well-secured servers. The user management and permissions functionality combined with the user activity logger provides another layer of security monitoring for the user's peace of mind.

Multifactor Authentication

WebSupervisor offers login protected by multifactor authentication. Activation of MFA is voluntary. In order to use multifactor authentication to log into your WSV account, it is necessary to register a ComAp cloud identity first.

Tracking and Geofencing

Keep track of the live location of controllers with the supporting technology. Websupervisor can display where units are, where they've been, and limit operation to within pre-defined areas. While the Geofencing feature is available to everyone (if supported by controller), the Tracking feature is only for our PRO users.

User Activity Logger

Administrators of an account can see the history logs of every user, so they can check every user's actions in order to identify who was monitoring a device when an issue occurred.

WebSupervisor's Add Ons are powerful tools and enhanced features that grant users further control of their units and installations. From URL customisation to complete API integration, WebSupervisor's Add Ons can optimise your fleet to its full capabilities. Contact your local ComAp representative to discuss which add-ons are best for you.

Advanced branding

Strengthen your corporate identity with WebSupervisor's branding tools. Upload a logo and adjust the colours to match your company's iconic palette. Set up a custom URL and login page to give your customers the confidence they're in friendly hands.

ComAp Cloud API

Fully customisable programmatic access for data acquisition that can be seamlessly integrated into 3rd party business management software.

Refresh data period change

With refresh rates as fast as a couple of seconds, you can get updates from your controllers in near real-time, allowing you to respond more quickly to new developments in the field.

Extend data availability

WebSupervisor can extend the storage period of your devices' data, making it possible to create more detailed reports.

Extension of online connections

Expanding the number of simultaneous connections to the same account from 10 to 25 allows more of your technicians to keep a watchful eye on your assets at all times.

ComAp Cloud Identity

Is using ComAp cloud identity mandatory?

Starting from December 1, 2022, ComAp cloud identity is mandatory for all WebSupervisor Lite users, new accounts and subaccounts and for those who want to benefit from MFA. It is still voluntary for Websupervisor Pro accounts that were created before February 1, 2023.

We have one account and share credentials for legacy login into WSV account with more users. Can we share one account when using CCI ?

Sharing one WSV account or sub-account with multiple users is strongly discouraged. The risk of credentials being stolen is too high and it decreases the security of the WSV account.

Each user who wants to have an access to WSC account must have their own identity and WSV account.

Is CCI login also mandatory for the WSV mobile application?

Yes. Login through CCI into WSV is mandatory for all Lite users (account and sub-account). There is not difference if you login through a web or a mobile application. It is still one WSV account.

Is it possible to create a ComAp cloud identity account from the WSV mobile application? 2

No, you must go to comap-control.com and create the identity account there. You can do it from the mobile phone. It is not necessary to have a laptop/computer.

What is ComAp cloud identity (CCI)?

ComAp Cloud identity is an upcoming new service from ComAp. The service will provide a single user account secured by multifactor authentication (MFA) and valid across all ComAp web-based services like WebSupervisor, ComAp club and others in the future. WebSupervisor will be the first service connected with ComAp identity portal and it will offer the benefit of MFA.

Is a guide available on how to create a ComAp Cloud Identity account?

Yes, the guide is available in Italian, German, Spanish and French language. You can find it Documentation section.

Multifactor Authentication

How often do I have to authenticate via MFA if it is activated?

You will have to use it every time you log into WSV. This includes after logging out and when logging in on a new device. You will also need to reauthenticate when you haven't been on your WSV account for more than 14 days, and once every 90 days, regardless of use.

How long is an authentication token valid for?

Authentication tokens are valid for 60 minutes, but can be automatically refreshed for 14 days since the last action. After 14 days have passed, you will need to log in again. New login will also be forced every 90 days, even if you haven't let your token expire during that time.

Is multifactor authentication available also for Lite users?

Yes, MFA is available for all account types.

Why is MFA important?

The main benefit of MFA requires users to identify themselves by more than a username and password. Using only a username and password leaves you vulnerable to brute force attacks and can be stolen by third parties. Using MFA tools like push notifications with a code or scanning a QR code increases confidence that your account will remain safe from cyber criminals.

What is multifactor authentication (MFA)?

Multifactor authentication offers a higher level of security for the user account.

MFA allows access after at least two types of authentication have been provided. The activation of MFA for WebSupervisor is voluntary and it is possible to set in WSV account settings or during ComAp identity registration.

Units

Why is a unit in "No Communication" state

  • All communication slots of the unit are occupied by other connected tools
  • The unit is not connected to internet
  • An issue with the firewall settings
  • Connection issue in internet on the way to WebSupervisor

What ports have to be enabled when I use firewall

In the case of AirGate communication, the following ports have to be enabled:

  • Port TCP 23 – for communication with unit
  • UDP 6127 – for checking a unit status

I cannot register a unit

  • You do not have permission to do it (you are not an Admin)
  • You did not fill all mandatory fields (fields with an asterisk)
  • Somebody already registered the unit under a different account (you will see the message: The unit cannot be registered. Unit with same communication exists)

A new unit can be registered under the account in Management – units section by clicking on the button “Add unit”. Only administrators of the account have this permission.

Locate function does not show position

Unfortunately, Locate function is obsolete.

In some locations "Locate" still works well, but there are still increasing places where we do not have enough information for calculating the correct position. Then the calculated position is either inaccurate or we get no result and that is why the unit position is not set to pin on the map.

Why should I share a unit?

Each unit can only be registered to WebSupervisor one time.

If more users need to monitor/manage the unit through WebSupervisor, the unit can be shared among more accounts or subaccounts.

Only a user with permission "Modify" can share the units.

The unit can be shared under:

  • Subaccount of the account
  • Foreign accounts

Where can I set sharing of the unit?

Sharing is possible to do in a unit's Settings section, under the User Permissions heading. It is also possible to do in a user's Settings section, under the unit permissions heading.

In order to share a unit to a foreign account, it is necessary to know the LoginID (username) of the user you want to share the unit with.

If a unit is shared to a foreign sub account, the unit is also made available to the administrator of the sub-account, along with all permissions granted when sharing.

What does "home server" mean and why should I set it correctly?

Your home server is set during the registration process. Home server is a server where your account will be registered. Currently we have two servers worldwide - in Europe and in Australia.

Making the correct choice for your home server increases the speed of the application and displayed data. It also allows your data to be stored in your territory.

How many communication slots does a unit have?

It depends on the type of connection.

A controller communicating via AirGate has a maximum of two communication slots.

A Controller communicating via a public IP address has a maximum of three communication slots.

Note: a communication slot allows a user to create connections between a controller and a tool (WebSupervisor, IMON, GenConfig) simultaneously.

InternetBridge NT has three communication slots:

  • Up to 3 IP based
  • 2 IP and 1 AirGate
  • 2 AirGate slots and 1 IP

How is WebSupervisor secured?

WebSupervisor is hosted on Microsoft Azure platform.

WebSupervisor combines HW and SW security. It includes encrypted communication between the WebSupervisor server and a controller, and between the WebSupervisor server and client computer. Connection between the WebSupervisor server and the client computer uses SSL protocol.

More information is possible to find in a security statement which is available at ComAp WebSupervisor product page.

Add-Ons

What is the Offline refresh period?

The offline refresh period is the period by which data is stored into database if no user is logged into the application. Information from the database is used for reports and trend analysis.

The default refresh period for WebSupervisor Lite and WebSupervisor Pro subscription is 60 minutes.

WebSupervisor Pro accounts have the option to speed up the offline refresh period to 1 minute intervals. It is an add-on feature, offered at an additional cost.

It is possible to set the offline refresh period for individual units, so you can choose what units will have faster or slower refresh periods.

The refresh period can be set by a user with "Modify" permission.

Note: Faster refresh periods causes bigger data consumption during connection.

What is an online connection and how is it calculated?

An online connection is a connection created between a client you are using (e.g. browser in your computer) and WebSupervisor server (your account).

Every connection created is counted (your computer, mobile, tablet …)

  • Limitation for **WebSupervisor Lite** is 10 online connections
  • Limitation for **WebSupervisor Pro** is 25 online connections

The number of connections is not the same as the number of users registered under your account or number of logged in users, because even one user can create several online connections (if they are simultaneously connected from computer, mobile and tablet).

How can I activate the API?

By default, 1500 API queries are available in WebSupervisor Pro subscription.

The API has to be activated before the first use. It can be done only by an administrator of the account in Account Settings in the Management section.

It is done in "Management/Users" section by the checkboxes in the table of all users, or in user settings in Account Information. Selecting the checkbox automatically creates an account in API Management.

What is the Online refresh period?

The online refresh period is the period by which data is read and displayed in the application for any user logged into the application.

The default refresh period for WebSupervisor Lite account is 60 seconds.

The default refresh period for WebSupervisor Pro account is 60 seconds; a faster online period 30 seconds is available in Unit settings. Changing the refresh period is possible only by a user with "Modify" permission.

It is possible to set a faster refresh period than 30 seconds – it is an add-on feature, offered only to WebSupervisor Pro users at an additional cost.

It is possible to set a refresh period for individual units, so you can choose what units will have faster or slower refresh period.

Where can I find API documentation?

API documentation is available under API in the Menu.
